Bereavement support
Every Wednesday lunch time in November, in association with the archdiocesan evangelisation group, CADET, the commission organised drop in sessions. Reflection stations were provided, with prayers, reflections and activities. Trained bereavement supporters were available for anyone wishing to talk.
Numbers were low, but those attending said they found it helpful. The materials will now be available to repeat a similar process perhaps in a different venues on other occasions.
Two services were held on November 14th in Christ the King church for those affected by miscarriage. Again numbers attending were small, but responses were very favourable.
The suggestion is to plan ahead for two services next year, in different venues, advertising the dates well in advance, and notifying priests, bereavement supporters and hospital chaplains.
