I am married, with three daughters and two grandchildren.

My professional life was in the world of education, teaching in Catholic schools in Wales and in  a mission school in Tanzania, and later as a lecturer in a college of education which underwent several changes before gaining University status.

The possibility of taking early retirement allowed me to spend more time developing my work for the Archdiocese, which has always centred on marriage and family life. After working for CMAC, (now Marriage Care), in marriage preparation and as chairperson, I now chair the Family Life Commission.

I contribute actively to the areas of bereavement support and in a group focussing on spirituality and dementia, I also work as a registered director for RAINBOWS which aims to support children and young people suffering significant loss through bereavement, divorce, separation or other painful transitions in their family.
